The first occupied the central element of the pavement of one of the residence small sitting rooms. The corners of the mosaic feature, in the form of busts, the allegories of the four seasons: spring with its head adorned with a marguerites wreath, instead of the traditional rose wreath, thereby constituting the sole representation of its kind to date; Summer stands out by its expressive face and its four wheat spikes, two of which are green and the other two are ripe. Fall, with its bunch of grapes, vine leaves and its lofty and meditating look, irresistibly evokes Dionysus; winter holds the classical olive tree branches.

Goddess Africa

The center of the mosaic features a female character with a dark complexion, flattened nose, and curly hair, wearing an elephant hide topped by a trump, an attribute that identifies her as the Goddess Africa, dispenser of wealth and fertility, object of a public and private cult highlighted by Pline in the following terms : “... in Africa nobody will take a resolve without a prior invocation of Africa.”. its portrait was certainly widely used on coins, sculptures, ceramics painting etc, but it is the first time that it appears on a mosaic in Africa.
