This vast residence was reconstituted, within a high historic context with a didactic calling, within a sector of the city, where the vestiges of the largest houses of the city, where the vestiges of the largest houses of the southern eastern quarters of Thysdrus were preserved, along a Roman street in an excellent condition of conservation. The reconstituted residence will also be nearby the archeological museum, that is to say in a setting evocative of the original aspect thereof.
One of the large rooms will host a permanent workshop devoted to providing training to mosaic makers, as well as to restoration and to copy making. This will introduce a great deal of liveliness inside this extensive space and would be of particular interest to visitors, who are always after accurate information on how mosaics were made and restored.

Other section of the residence will be devoted to a didactic presentation on the ancient construction technique and private architecture in Thysdrus, during the Roman epoch; this will be achieved by means of information panels and samples of ancient materials. This “domus-museum” is designed as an information space and is expected to play the role of a transition between, on the one hand, the ancient sectors of the city, where the 500 000 visitors/year will have the opportunity to complement their documentation, by strolling inside a Roman house; the whole lot forming a small archeological park.

This project comes within the scope of the economic, social and cultural development of the region and the country, this is achieved through:
- Increasing the assets of the city of El Jem
- Favoring the promotion of a cultural heritage of universal value.
- Boosting contact and comprehension between Tunisians and foreign visitors
- Providing for training in the various techniques of consolidation, restoration and valorization of heritage.
