This pavement was mostly destroyed, but the door step kept its beautiful mosaic, featuring two peacocks confronting each other on both sides of a crater, with rose tree branches in blossom stemming out of it. Small private sitting rooms, some of which take the form of very elaborately ornamented exedras, were used as a refuge for conversation, reading or meditation.
